The Shiawassee Area Writers are offering two ($250) scholarships to Shiawassee County high school seniors heading into writing careers. Due to the closure of Shiawassee Area Schools, the scholarships have not been awarded and the group would love to put the money into the hands of two eligible students.
This is the second year for the scholarships as two students were given the awards in 2019. Proceeds from the sales of the group’s anthologies go toward the scholarship monies. You may find the group’s books on Amazon and also in Owosso Books & Beans. The titles are, Winter in the Mitten and Spring in the Mitten. Summer in the Mitten is scheduled to be released in the fall of this year.
The requirements for the scholarship include a future in a writing career, a sample of writing, and a student graduating in 2020 from a Shiawassee County school or homeschooled in the county.
