OWOSSO CITY MANAGER Nathan Henne spoke during the SEDP’s Housing Deal Making luncheon on Tuesday, July 30. Henne explained the UDAG (Urban Action Development Grant) program and how city of Owosso developers can access funds through the program.

“I have been the city manager of my hometown of Owosso for one year and three months,” shared Henne. “One of the things I noticed when I first got here was one very unique tool that the city of Owosso has that not many cities in the entire country have anymore. UDAG provided a grant to the city of Owosso back in the 1980s for a downtown revolving loan fund, so if you’re trying to revamp your second-story apartments, if you’re trying to start a business, this is a very broad spectrum program that is still active in Owosso. There is $975,000 still available in this fund that is accessible to developers in the form of low interest loans of up to $50,000, or grants, for all commercial property in the city.”
