CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY TO OWOSSO once again, as over 250 Santas from the famous Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School in Midland visited on Friday, Oct. 19 to ride the #1225 Pere Marquette at the Steam Railroading Institute (SRI).

Stopping at the SRI all the way from the North Pole on Friday afternoon, though they sometimes spend their summers in Sioux Falls, SD, was Kris Kringle and his wife – who occasionally go by Bill and Jeanne Pattison. Kringle/Pattison shared that it is his goal to deliver “hope, inspiration, love and civility” to everyone he meets because the world definitely needs more civility. So what are some of Kringle’s more interesting experiences? He has had many, including a visit from producer Steven Spielberg and also an unusually cold holiday season spent in Chicago in 2017. Requests? Kringle/Pattison has had children request everything from a steak to a vacuum cleaner. Toothbrushes are sometimes quite popular, too.

This was the first time for this couple to visit Owosso.
