Another new business has just opened its doors in Owosso. River Ridge Kayak Service, LLC, will shuttle kayakers and canoers anywhere along the Shiawassee River between Byron and Chesaning for a small fee. As paddlers themselves, owners Anita and Dennis Moliterno were often concerned about how they would transport their kayaks and how they would get back to their vehicles after each paddle.
“The maneuvering can be quite daunting. If you are a lone paddler, there really isn’t anything you can do if you don’t have someone to transport you to or from the various launch sites. Larger groups involve even more vehicles to be moved,” said Anita. Thus, the problem became the spark for the small business.”
River Ridge Kayak Service, LLC, can transport up to eight kayaks or four canoes, the paddlers, and their equipment, all in one simple trip. They will meet you at your destination and take you, your equipment, and your boat to your launch site for a small fee of $10 per kayak and $15 per canoe.
There are also occasions when a shuttle is needed for a round trip from one site to another and back, such as a kayaker leaving from home or a group meeting at a restaurant. River Ridge Kayak Service, LLC, can accommodate most any circumstance. They are currently looking into rentals and arranging gift packages with local vendors for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and romantic get-a-ways.
