BRYAN MARKS, of the Great Lakes Family of Businesses in Vernon, was presented with the Planet Award by Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership CEO/President Justin Horvath on Thursday, Dec. 12 during an end of the year celebration in Owosso that combined the SEDP’s quarterly investor update and the Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Connect at Four event.
Marks, who also received the SEDP’s Project of the Year Award earlier in 2019, was honored for the work he and his companies have done cleaning up the 40-acre site in Vernon where the Great Lakes companies are located. Over the past couple years, Marks and his team have begun removing and recycling the approximately 250,000 tons of concrete that has littered the property for decades. Marks also received a $42,600 Site Readiness Grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation earlier in 2019, which will be used for site planning.
