The Perry High School (PHS) varsity cheer team is partnering with Friedland Industries to hold a scrap metal drive from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 to help the team raise money to attend a North American Spirit cheerleading camp. The scrap metal drive will be held at Perry High School, 2555 W. Britton Rd. in Perry.
Accepted items include steel appliances, steel cans, bikes, and other metal materials. Large metal items are accepted, including refrigerators, washers, dryers, lawnmowers, snow blowers, and metal filing cabinets. Additionally, individuals can contact the PHS varsity cheer pick-up team for help transporting large items at (989) 600-1336 or cheerphsvarsity@gmail.com.
Prohibited items include any items that contain petroleum-based or hazardous liquids, such as metal barrels, drums, or paint cans; electrical devices containing PCBs, such as transformers, ballasts, capacitors, and light bulbs; and any type of spray can.
