THE PADDLE THE SHIAWASSEE event brought paddling enthusiasts from all over mid-Michigan into the county Saturday, May 28, as 11 adventurers experienced the grand Shiawassee River, many for the first time. The group, which consisted of members of the Friends of the Shiawassee River, the Keepers of the Shiawassee, and the Headwaters Trails, traversed the wide portion of the river from Lytle Rd. Park to N. Brady St. in Corunna. Though the group experienced a bit of rain on their way down the river, the trip was completed within roughly an hour. They finished their trip just before noon, so the group of out-of-towners moved the party over to the South 401 Restaurant. Even in the early stages of its transformation, the Shiawassee River is already bringing new business into our county.
