The Owosso Board of Education agenda for the 7 p.m. Monday, July 27, meeting in the Owosso High School Media Center includes a proposal for a special election Nov. 3 to ask voters for borrowing (bonding) $49,545,000 being repaid over 30 years. Total cost for the proposal $49,603,541. Earlier this year, it was estimated bonds would require about 5.5 mills of new property tax. The proposal in February had a more than 6 mill tax increase to begin.

The package is nearly identical to the one voters rejected last February – except that it drops a proposed new pool. Additions and modifications to Owosso High School to house middle school are proposed, just as last winter, along with purchasing technology in all buildings plus buses. With the middle school addition, there would be an auditorium, offices and gym along with the classroom package.

The future of the downtown Middle School on N. Water will be decided after the project goes ahead.
