A special schedule of artists will help Owosso Musicale celebrate music every month of its 81st program year. Starting on Monday, Oct. 9, Musicale will host violin and piano duo, The Nold Sisters, as they honor past presidents and Cheryl Gapinski. This is also an opportunity to honor the memory of Cheryl Gapinski by contributing to youth scholarships. Gapinski, who administered these awards for nearly twenty years, passed away on Sept. 25.

“We want to invite people to join us for a wonderful program with two very accomplished musicians. Katherine Nold, pianist, studied at the International Academy of Music and is certified in piano pedagogy through the Music Teachers National Association,” reports Musicale Co-President Sue Henry. “She is a top recipient of the American Guild of Organists, has been a guest soloist with Orion Chamber Music Society, and she is a private piano teacher and Michigan Federation of Music Clubs Festival chair.

“Rebekah Nold is a rising solo violinist and orchestra musician, currently principal second violinist in the Oakland Youth Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of the Orion Chamber Music Society,” Henry continued. “Together, they will weave a spell that expresses their love of music through their presentation of “Baroque for Two,” showcasing selections from Baroque composers Corelli, Vivaldi, Bach, and Buxtehud.”

The organization encourages all music lovers to visit a program and feel free to bring a friend. Members come from all across Shiawassee County, from Perry to Durand to Chesaning. The group strives to continue its support of all forms of music in the community and schools, and regularly reaches out to hospitals and nursing homes.

The Nold Sisters will perform at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 Goodhue St. in Owosso, at  noon on Monday, Oct. 9. The church will also host a patriotic retrospective with Kerry Price on Monday, Nov. 13.

The public is welcome to attend any of Owosso Musicale’s meetings, and all venues are handicap accessible. For more information about Owosso Musicale, individuals can visit www.owossomusicale.org.
