ORIGINAL TEAM MEMBERS of the Owosso-Corunna Meijer gathered on Friday, Aug. 11 to reminisce about their 25 years of employment at the location, though 16 original team members from the store’s 1992 inception remain. The affable group had plenty of jokes about why they have remained with the company for the past 25 years, but they all agree that the employee-friendly work environment and above average benefits package make Meijer a “great place to work.” They also report that they like their customers and know many on a first name basis.

Store director, Susan Merkle, elaborated later, sharing that team-building contests and working in a good community like Shiawassee County make it easier for team members to take ownership of and pride in their work, adding that the store makes an effort to “celebrate the wins.” She also noted that every team member is capable of excelling, but that it is up to her and her leadership team to bring it out of them.
