THE COMMUNITY PEP RALLY tradition continued Friday, Aug. 19 at Willman Field as Owosso Public Schools hosted a number of events featuring all fall athletic teams. Inflatable bounce houses, pizza, and beverages were free to anyone attending the rally. Hundreds of people came out to cheer the sports teams as they were presented on the football field. In fact, there was minimal seating available in the stadium and dozens crowded near the surrounding fence to watch.
The gates opened at 5 p.m. with the program beginning around 6 p.m. when the Trojan Marching Band took the field under the guidance of Jillian Schlegel, Mike Tolrud, and Jordan Sterk. Dallas Lintner, OHS principal, introduced the teams and led games featuring coaching staff and athletes such as the toilet paper roll challenge (left). Superintendent Andrea Tuttle concluded the pep rally.
Willman Field is located on the corner of Grover and Dewey Streets. The concrete stadium was finished in 1929, but major renovations to the area landmark occurred just two years ago. (Independent Photos/Karen Mead-Elford)
