Memorial Healthcare continues to provide sports physicals for area athletes as part of the athlete’s annual well-child visit. This process is the same as last year, but different from our previous mass physicals. The benefit to this approach for coaches and parents is in knowing the athlete has been fully examined and questioned regarding recent injuries, illnesses, or other chronic conditions.

Memorial Healthcare’s goal is to provide every athlete with a safe, comprehensive sports physical so that each athlete is ready to participate in tryouts and organized sports. By providing these physicals in the office setting at an

annual well-child visit, our providers can more thoroughly assess the overall health and well-being of each athlete, ensuring the athlete is safely able to play his or her sport.

Memorial Healthcare’s family medicine and pediatric providers are currently scheduling sports physicals in conjunction with the annual well-child visit. In the majority of cases, there would be no co-pay or fee associated with obtaining the sports physical in this manner, as most insurance payers do not have co-pays established for annual preventive care appointments.

In cases where there may be a concern regarding out-of-pocket expenses or access to a provider, call the Memorial Healthcare Sports Physical Hotline at (989) 729-2828. If your child has already had a well-child visit in the past year, talk to your

physician about how to go about getting the sports physical performed. When calling to schedule the well-child visit, parents are encouraged to mention that your child needs a sports physical before the August 2016 deadline.
