Community volunteers are wanted to assist members and friends of the Corunna United Methodist Church in “Cleaning Up/Greening Up” Corunna’s McCurdy Park before the annual Fourth of July celebration.
The sixth annual Clean-Up/Green Up at McCurdy Park will be Tuesday, June 23, starting at 9 a.m. with volunteers meeting at the Grandstand area. “Volunteers could bring gas-powered weed-whips so that areas of tall grass/weeds may be trimmed,” said Sue Lea. “This is the biggest need. Volunteers may also bring gas-powered leaf blowers, manual push brooms and square-nosed shovels. Teens are certainly welcome to assist. Tasks should be accomplished by noon.
“If needed, a rain-out/make-up date will be 9 a.m. Thursday, June 25. This activity is under the direction of the City of Corunna, Corunna Parks and Recreation and the Corunna Fourth of July Committee.” For more information, interested volunteers may contact Laura at (989) 743-5050 or Dave Lea at corunna.mi.umc@gmail.com.
