Three fun events for children are scheduled this week at the Durand Memorial Branch of the Shiawassee District Library, said Librarian Nancy Folaron.

A movie showing, theater performance, and family story time will be held. Attendance at the events counts for credit towards badges in the Every Hero Has a Story reading program.

A feature movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 20. The movie was previously shown in June but due to poor weather conditions at that time will be presented again. Licensing restrictions prevent the title of the movie being released to the media, but library staff have confirmed the movie has some important heroes and is rated PG. Free refreshments will be served.

The Acting Up Theatre Company will present their original show “A Truly Original Super Hero” in the pavilion behind the library at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22. Their performance will feature colorful characters, comedy and audience interaction. All ages are invited to attend the show.

Another family story time will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24. Pirates and mermaids will be the theme for story time, which will feature books and stories plus an easy craft for children to complete afterwards.
