Pleasant View has started off the new year with several planned leadership changes taking effect.

Assuming the role of administrator is Shana Espinoza, RN, MSN, NHA. Espinoza has been at Pleasant View for nearly eight years, most recently serving as the director of nursing. She completed her state Nursing Home Administrator exams in October 2016 and is relieving interim Bill Hekker, who has been in the position since December 2015. “Pleasant View has such a great future ahead of it, that’s building on a solid past. Our residents are number one and we have an amazing, dedicated staff. It’s my honor to take the reins and move us forward,” said Espinoza.

The new director of nursing is Judy Riggs, RN. Riggs has been a team member at Pleasant View for eight years, serving as the assistant director of nursing for nearly five years. She was a CNA at Pleasant View early in her career and has more than 35 years of experience.

Shiawassee Health and Human Services Board member Colleen Pero, a gubernatorial appointee, completed her term of service in December. Taking her place is Hartmann Aue of Owosso, former Shiawassee County Commissioner of District 1, who was sworn into the position on December 28. Board members are appointed to serve a three-year term on the board which is a policymaking board only. He joins current board members Londa Knauff and chair Retta Parsons. The board meets monthly and meetings are open to the public. “I’ve followed Pleasant View’s construction project progress these past few years and I’ve been impressed with their evolving brand,” shared Aue. “Now I will get to have an insider’s view and be part of making a difference for residents, staff, and those in our community who need care.”

Construction of the new single-story, modern facility, located in Caledonia Township off East M-21 in The Commons, is on schedule for a late fall 2017 completion date. Pleasant View, Shiawassee County’s Medical Care Facility, is owned and operated by Shiawassee County as a service to its residents. Offering long-term care, short-term rehab and memory care, Pleasant View strives to create a home-like atmosphere for its residents.
