A NEW GROCERY STORE is reported to open in Laingsburg on Monday, Jan. 15 after Mark’s Food Pride, the previous grocery store, had closed a few weeks ago. A large number of individuals in the community were disappointed to see Mark’s close since it had become a community staple since 1998 when owner Mark O’Neill purchased the business from Tom Mahoney (Mahoney’s IGA). O’Neill plans to continue operating his other grocery store, Village Food Pride, in Ovid.
Phillip Crockett owns the structure located on the corner of Grand River and Woodbury Roads in Laingsburg.
At press time, the name of the new grocery store has not been formally announced, though it appears Maron’s Market Inc. did apply for licensing in mid-October through the Michigan Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
