Their ages run from nine to eighteen years, they herald from Durand, Byron, New Lothrop, Corunna, and also Swartz Creek, but one major similarity for the group of fifteen girls is they are undefeated in seven competitions. Owner of Kathy’s Dance Studio, Becki Zvonek-Love, says is “Almost impossible to do.” Because of their recent Rainbow National Championship honor, the “Bollywood” dance team have now been invited to perform in a special ‘all kids’ dance program in Branson, MO during the weekend of

July 22, 23, and 24.

The girls have participated in five regional competitions and then went on as an undefeated team to compete in the Wisconsin Dells event for a National Competition and won against even some highly competitive teams from Las Vegas and Arizona. Choreographer for the team Emily Smith said this about the win, “I couldn’t have done this well without the help of Becki and Jamie. This team meshed together so well, even in the beginning which brought this dance together so well.”

The young dancers have many things to say about this year’s efforts at the studio. After a weekly practice from Oct. through July, the girls have formed a close bond and giggled talking about their team and experience. Kaitlyn says, “The dance is very hard, but very fun.” “We couldn’t have done so well without having a lovely team. We are all very close,” commented Miranda. One of the team members, Kayli Konarski will soon be heading to Vegas as a professional dancer. She was chosen among multitudes of dancers for the 20 person dance team. “Everything has to be precise when performing or things will get all messed up,” added Sydney regarding how well the team works together.

This is a first National Championship for the studio and also helped them win the “Rising Starz Studio” award at the competition. Owner Zvonek-Love said this about the honor, “Others can do better and often do, but this year, it was our turn.”
