Shiawassee Twp. Supervisor Anthony Karhoff announced April 19 his campaign for the 85th District seat in the Michigan House of Representatives. Besides his current role as township supervisor, Karhoff is also a 10-year veteran firefighter serving as a sergeant on Vernon Township Fire Department, and as the past president of the Shiawassee County Firefighter’s Association and retired as the second Vice President of the Michigan State Fireman’s Association. He was awarded Shiawassee County Firefighter of the Year in 2008 and Politician of the Year in 2014 as voted by Argus-Press readers.

“I’ve been a voice for Shiawassee Township, but I look forward to the honor of being a stronger voice for so many more families

across our district,” Karhoff said. “Our communities in the 85th House District need someone to protect our constitutional rights, provide essential services that everyone needs, and to establish a bridge of understanding of how hard it is for some families to make it day to day. I have succeeded in my life so far thanks to my family and neighbors, and I will give back in every way possible in my next role as your state legislator.”

Karhoff is a lifelong resident of Shiawassee County, and has been involved with 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) his entire life. He strongly cares about public education, public services, and veterans, and will make job creation for the 85th District a priority.

“I can’t thank the people of Shiawassee Township and the village of Bancroft enough for electing me to serve as their supervisor, but as I look around the entire 85th House District, I know there are thousands more who need my voice, and that’s why I want to go to Lansing to represent the amazing people in this district,” Karhoff said. “I have served the people I represent truthfully and with the utmost dedication, and I will take those values with me in this next journey to be your representative.”

Karhoff also serves as the chairperson of the Shiawassee Chapter of the Michigan Townships Association. In addition to his role in the community, Karhoff also is a lifetime supporter of the Shiawassee County Fair and member of Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association (NRA). (Courtesy Photo)
