“All I want for Christmas is at SAC’s 27th annual Holiday at the Center!” said organizers of the Shiawassee Arts Center’s Holiday at the Center which opens next weekend.

Nearly 90 Michigan artists are displaying and selling their original artwork, unique gift items and holiday decorations. Visitors are sure to find gifts at affordable prices for everyone on their gift lists. The show, which opens Nov. 14 and continues through Dec. 31 is sponsored by Memorial Healthcare with outdoor decorations by Sunburst Gardens.

The SAC Member Opening Reception – free to Arts Council members – will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, with live music by The Dirt Surfers and “delicious goodies from Abiding in the Vine Tea Room.” There will also be a silent auction, raffle and book signing with 20 percent off (cash/check) or 15 percent off (credit card) on one Holiday Show purchase.

The public Opening Reception – open and free to public – will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, with piano music by Richard Lahmann, refreshments and book signings.

The “Unauthorized Audubon” book reading, exhibit and booksigning – free to public – will be 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 with Laura DeLind, printer, and Anita Skeen, poet.

In addition, there will be Saturday Children’s Art Classes: Nov. 14, Denim All Jazzed Up; Nov. 21, Dotty Worry Collages with Fiber; Dec. 5, Gingerbread House Making; Dec. 12, Clay Piggy Bank Mania; and Dec. 19, Holiday Gift Making Class.

Children’s Holiday at the Center – open and free to public – will be a special event for children of all ages 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, with refreshments, music, art activities and a book signing by author Mary Morgan plus a visit by Santa in addition to the Children’s Gingerbread House Village Display.

SAC will have a raffle of a decorated and prelit seven-foot Christmas Tree. Silent auction items include over two dozen items which are up for bid through Dec. 18 such as original artwork donated by these artists: Juanita Baldwin, Janet Baugher, Eldon Case, Jill Doederlein, Joel Ellis, Marilyn Fitzpatrick, Mary Herronen, Jann Johnson Lardie, Tom Lipinski, Nancy McClintock, Sue Monroe, Mel Swartz, Eddy Tompkins and Joy Willging.

The SAC Holiday hours, free and open to the public, are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at the Center, 206 Curwood Castle Drive in Owosso. SAC will be open noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and 31; closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. A 20 percent off sales begins Dec. 26.
