HELPING – Local veterans, with the help of the Owosso Masonic Lodge, have been helping an area elderly couple provide safe shelter in their home. “The roof on their home was in need of immediate repair when veterans advocate Les Schneider came to the rescue,” it was stated. “With the Spring rains and melting snow pouring into their living space, an emergency team was assembled and with donated and purchased material they made temporary repairs to the couple’s home.

“In April, the husband who is a veteran, called Schneider, a Shiawassee County Commissioner, asking for assistance in repairing the roof. With the need known, money was collected from the community. With the Masonic Lodge’s generous contribution a total of $4,500 has been received and the roof will soon be replaced. A portion of this contribution is supplemented by the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation.”

The money will be used, along with the contributions from the community to replace the roof of the couple’s home.
