Several special events for children are scheduled at the Durand Memorial Branch of the Shiawassee District Library in December. The events include Wii Day and Lego Day as well as Christmas crafts, cookie decorating, and story hour.

Wii day will be held Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children may bring their friends and play Raving Rabbids, Super Mario Cart, Wii Sports, and other games. All equipment and games are provided.

Christmas crafts will be made Tuesday, Dec. 13. Children may drop in from 4 to 7 p.m. to make some fun decorations. Children of all ages are invited, but preschoolers should bring an adult to help.

Christmas cookie decorating will be held Saturday, Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children are invited to decorate some homemade cookies. All supplies will be provided.

A Christmas story hour and activity time will be held Wednesday evening, Dec. 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. Library staff will entertain the children with holiday stories and movies. There will also be Christmas trees to decorate and crafts to make. Parents who wish to finish their wrapping or last minute Christmas shopping may leave their children but will need to fill out emergency contact information at the library.

The next Lego Day will be held Thursday, Dec. 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. Kids can use the library’s many Lego kits to create and build. Completed kits will be displayed until the next Lego day.
