Memorial Healthcare will be holding a free cancer-screening event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Memorial’s Medical Arts Building, located at 721 N. Shiawassee St. in Owosso. Memorial’s dedicated oncology physician specialists will be performing the screenings. This event is open to everyone and will include cancer screenings for breast (clinical breast exam), prostate, and skin. Lab services will also be available for Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA), and a take-home colorectal cancer screening kit will be available.
American Cancer Society recommendations for age limits will be followed for screenings. Guidelines for clinical breast exams are once a year for women age 40 and older, and every three years for women ages 20 through 39. Clinical prostate exams and PSA tests are to be performed yearly for men age 50 and older, and colorectal screening tests should be administered yearly to men and women age 50 and older.

Walk-ins will be accepted up to one hour prior to closing. Community cancer screenings are provided in conjunction with Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Silver Stars, and the Community Cancer Fund.
