Owosso Mayor Ben Frederick has raised nearly $53,000 in his bid for the 85th House of Representatives District Republican nomination in the 2016 election cycle, according to the Michigan Secretary of State’s Elections Division.
Frederick, who is term-limited on the Owosso City Council, said in a filing with the Secretary of State, he formed his campaign committee Feb. 16 this year, having Brian J. Boggs (a Durand City Councilman) as treasurer and his record keeper Johnathon W. Sprague of Lennon.
Current state Rep. Ben Glardon is term limited; his term will end Dec. 31, 2016. Frederick, 33, is a staffer for state Rep. Joel Johnson, R-Clare. He has worked for the Legislature for 13 years.
The 85th District includes all of Shiawassee County plus southern areas of Saginaw County.
