T.J. Clark, former Shiawassee County administrator, agreed Sept. 28 to a high court misdemeanor plea deal in Shiawassee County Circuit Court.
Ingham County Deputy Chief Assistant Prosecutor John Dewane is handling the case on behalf of the County Prosecutor’s office.
An amended count nine – related to using public money for personal use – was agreed to and the original eight charges will be dropped. “This is a high court misdemeanor that could have carried with it a sentence up to two years in jail and other costs,” Dewane said in a Sept. 29 telephone conversation with The Independent. “By entering into the plea deal he (Clark) agreed to spend 30 days in jail no more, no less and to pay $2,500 restitution and $2,500 court costs.” Clark’s sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 20.
