FLOYD KOERNER has repaired his 1954 Oliver Corporation combine, which can be seen being pulled by Floyd’s 1955 Oliver Super 88 Diesel tractor recently. Floyd is using the combine to harvest the 12.5 acres of rye behind his son’s home near Laingsburg, and he reports that the old pull-behind combine is much more efficient than any of the contemporary self-propelled models. The combine only needed a few belts changed out, which Koerner was able to order from a local parts store.
Floyd and his wife, Nancy, who are members of the newly formed Heart of Michigan Antique Tractor Club, own all six Oliver Super series tractors, which includes model Nos. 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, and 99. Additionally, they have collected several other Oliver tractors, including the 550 and 660. While several of the antique tractors have been restored to their original condition, Floyd is still in the process of revitalizing his entire Super series.
Floyd and Nancy will again be taking part in the Owosso Tractor Parts Mackinac Bridge Crossing on Friday, Sept. 8, and the couple will be riding two of their pristine antique Oliver tractors in the Shiawassee County Fair Tractor Parade on Wednesday this week.
