DURAND HOSTED THE 27TH ANNUAL End of Summer Cruisin’ Car Show on Saturday, Sept. 3, and 317 car owners from across the state came together to make this year’s event the biggest in its history. Event organizers handed out many prizes at the end of the afternoon, but the three big winners of the day were James Sumner of Lennon, who won the “Mayor’s Award” with his 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible; Norm Price of Owosso, whose 1939 Ford pick-up won “Best In Show”; and Jim and Gayle Scroggs, who won the new “Railroad Royalty Winner Award” with their 1940 Chevrolet Business Coupe.
Music for the event was provided by the father-son team, Young’s Entertainment, of Byron. Durand Railroad Days Attendant Carly Gross, Prince Joseph Earegood, and Durand Mayor Deb Doyle presented the winners with their trophies. See more coverage, including photos, inside today’s Independent.
