If you like to have lots of fun and enjoy a good laugh, then this event is for you! The Shiawassee Homeless Coalition is seeking teams to participate in the 2015 Oktoberfest Bed Race.
The race will be in downtown Owosso on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015. This is a fundraising event and all monies raised will go toward emergency housing in Shiawassee County. The mission of the Shiawassee Homeless Coalition is to address the causes and conditions of homelessness in Shiawassee County. Did you know that 1 in 4 children live below the poverty line? Did you know that in 2013, 247 Shiawassee County households were without shelter on any given night? In fact, almost half of these families have children under the age of 18.
The Bed Race is one of the many events the coalition is sponsoring this summer and to bring awareness and to raise money to help those in immediate need. Or find a bed (or create your own), grease the wheels and join in the spirit of Oktoberfest by racing the streets of Owosso in a bed!
