Editor, The Independent:

The members of Grace Lutheran Church in Durand are scheduled to participate in the Corunna Independence Day Festival next Saturday, July 4. The church will enter its float in the Firecracker Parade, which steps off at 11 a.m. on Shiawassee (M-21) at State and goes north past the historic Shiawassee County Courthouse, turns at Mack Street (just before the Shiawassee River bridge) and goes west to McCurdy Park.

Literature concerning the church, its beliefs and activities will be distributed by members walking with the float. In addition, Grace Lutheran will also host an informational booth in McCurdy Park following the parade.

Included in the information to be distributed will be the dates and theme of Grace Lutheran Church’s Family Vacation Bible School (FVBS), “The Parables of Jesus.” The class will examine some of the parables of Jesus found in Matthew’s Gospel, including “The Parable of the Sewer,” “The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl of Great Value,” “The Parable of the Net” and others.

Grace’s FVBS will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, July 5 through 9. Both children and adults, especially families, are invited to attend.

Grace Lutheran Church is on Durand Road, just north of the I-69 overpass. For more information, please call the church office, (989) 288-2900.
