Independent Editor,
The Community District Library is asking for your help in a renewal of their millage on Aug. 2. This renewal is .7 of one mill and runs for four years. This renewal almost completely funds the district library which includes the townships of Burns, Caledonia, Hazelton, Perry, Shiawassee, and the cities of Perry and Corunna. We have a great library system and a great library staff which are always ready to help with questions or solving problems with computers or requesting books. Right now, the summer reading program is going on, Summer Blast, which encourages children not only to listen or read books, but encourages them to accomplish tasks which enables them to earn badges.
Last year there were a total of 417 programs offered to the public including classes on computers, cooking, and calligraphy. There were more than 105,000 patron visits to the library last year. There is no substitute funding so you can understand this renewal is extremely important. Please take the time to vote “yes” for the Library Renewal on Tuesday, Aug. 2. It will be found on the back of the ballot near the end. This is not an increase, only a renewal.
