Editor, The Independent:
It’s time to add one of the biggest Shiawassee County events of the year to your calendar. The wonderful celebration of our nation’s freedom – 239 years of it!
Once again there will be free activities all day in McCurdy Park in Corunna starting with the Fourth of July Firecracker Parade at 11 a.m. and ending with the spectacular fireworks display around 10 p.m. You will want to observe and/or participate in all of the fun.
The Corunna Historical Village of Shiawassee County will have all of its buildings open from noon to 5 p.m. Great food will be available in the New Haven Township Hall as well as cold water, pop and ice cream bars.
Be sure to see the progress on the newest addition to the Historical Village, the Bicycle Museum. The blacksmith will be at work in the blacksmith shop, the tinsmith in the tinsmith shop and the rope maker will be at the Hopson-Hornak log home.
Please thank all the wonderful volunteers, community members and stewards who so faithfully work to make these things a reality. Come celebrate our Freedom!
