Editor, The Independent:
Memorial Day 2015 and Owosso Township’s Oak Grove Cemetery has seen some progress. “Some” is a relative word. After much complaining by many people and a petition for new flag holders, the new flag holders are nice, pity so many of the flags look like they spent the winter wadded up in a ragbag. Maybe they’ll straighten out with a rain.
So far I have found eight veterans who do not have a flag on their grave and even though the township supervisor was provided a list of veterans graves that needed flag holders (according to law) I have thus far identified 25 of those so listed that still do not have a flag holder. That is a few too many to be considered an acceptable margin of error. I’m afraid there will be many more. I will have to update this later. (I really don’t believe I should take my time to baby-sit these elected officials, they are adults.) Supervisor Danny Miller is so intent on micromanaging this cemetery, and this is the best he can do?
I had high hopes that the cemetery would be looking better this year, but alas, it is what it is and the photos will go online at  http://oakgrovecemeteryowossotwpmichigan2015.blogspot.com/. It isn’t complete at this moment. I’m working on it.
