The voter initiative on a proposal to “end partisan gerrymandering,” which will appear on the November ballot, will not eliminate partisan redistricting. The proposal was written by Democrats and the purpose is to ensure Democrat legislative control of the state in perpetuity. There will be no “independent commission,” and such an entity does not and will not ever exist. How will the members be selected? Consider that. There will be no accountability for this commission’s actions. Accountability resides in elections. The people, under this proposed redistricting rule, will have no recourse. It is a rotten idea.
