Backpacks are needed for the Owosso Public Schools’ Student Food program. Owosso Public Schools partners with Young Chevrolet Cadillac and Owosso Rotary to distribute food to Owosso students by sending home balanced meals in a backpack twice a month, from October to June. The goal of this donation-based program is simple: feed Owosso students who are hungry on the weekends.

Some children do not like others knowing that they are getting food sent home with them so we place the food in an assortment of donated backpacks. New backpacks are great but gently used backpacks work just as well. As you begin school shopping for the upcoming year, please consider donating your old backpacks to the Owosso Cares Food Backpack Program. Our 177 students, from preschool to high school, who need this food to get through the weekends appreciate your support.

Backpacks can be dropped off at our Washington Campus, 645 Alger Street in Owosso or call me, Jessica Thompson, at (989) 729-5682 for a pick-up.
