Independent Editor,

It has been an honor and a privilege to provide medical care to all my patients at Owosso Internal Medicine, and I truly appreciate and value the trust you all placed in me for the last few years. While I could never quite be an equal replacement of Dr. Mohlman, I tried my best and put my heart and soul in treating you like my own family, and therefore I would like to thank you for your patronage. It is, however, with sadness that I have to inform you that I will no longer be able to care for your medical needs in this community.

I want to thank you for your smiles, your jokes, your vivid conversations, your gifts; from holiday cards to hand-carved pumpkins and snowmen decorations, from plants and potted herbs to hand-knitted afghans and child dresses or quilts, from home-made cookies to home-grown fresh produce and honey and maple syrup, from books of wisdom to the bibliography of garlic. I hope you will recognize yourselves in the above examples since I cannot name everyone here. Please know that I treasure and cherish everything that you have done for me and my staff, and I will miss you all.

I have learned from you just as, I hope, you had something to learn from me. I wish you all the best and please know that you are all in my heart. Alexander Graham Bell once said, “When one door closes another door opens, but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.” Cherish the past, but look to the future.

Sincerely and respectfully,

Elena Alawa, D.O.
