Have you noticed the new Reserved Combat Wounded parking signs around Shiawassee County? They are for veterans that have been hurt in war and received the Purple Heart. The signs were conceived by the Wounded Warriors Family Support organization. I thank them very much for doing this for us. I’m afraid to park there sometimes because another recipient might want to park in that spot for his/her first time and feel good about it like I always do.
We need more stores to allow us to put one or two up and also to put them up at the malls and big parking lots. Thanks to our commander, Tom Wetzel of the Shiawassee County Chapter 1970 Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), we now have some around here. Good work, Tom.
Michigan is the only state that has a free life membership paid by our state convention vote each year. We also give out a free $1,500 scholarship each year to a descendant of a veteran that has been awarded the Purple Heart.
Always remember to thank our policeman, fireman, paramedics and nurses, as they are the first people that are saving our lives.
