I am a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. I have never sought recognition or appreciation for my service as I slept in a relatively confortable bed every night while our soldiers were giving their lives in the jungle – although, I did have some near-death experiences.
I wrote to publicly express my deep gratitude for the holiday care package I received this holiday season. The box contained many pounds of staple foods and gift certificates, which exceeded the cost of our large family’s holiday feast.
A very honorable mention of the ladies at Byron VFW Auxiliary (Thompson’s Rental, Resale and Repair). Other contributors include but are not limited to: Aldi, Meijer, Save-a-Lot, the Byron Chamber of Commerce, the Byron Masonic Lodge, Burns Grange and Cub Scout Pack 88.
A heartfelt thank you to anyone and everyone who contributed to the beautiful holiday spirit in our home.
