Independent Editor,
Many don’t know that the Roe and Doe decisions in 1973 legalized abortion, for any reason, until birth. In 46 years, most states worked to pass laws limiting abortion. This common-sense legislation includes parental consent, basic clinic regulations, protecting women with anti-coercion laws, no tax-dollars for abortion and honoring conscience rights.
You may have heard that New York and other states are repealing pro-life laws with the likelihood of Roe v. Wade being limited or overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court. Any protections to women, babies surviving an abortion or those who refuse to participate in one, are being removed. New York’s new law doesn’t even require a doctor to perform abortions – talk about extreme!
Oh the irony; capital punishment is illegal in most states – including New York – the nesting areas and eggs of animals are protected, jail time and fines if abusing an animal, but the baby preparing to be born has nothing.
