Editor, The Independent:

On Nov. 3, voters in the Durand Area School District have an opportunity to improve the lives of students within the district. Voters will be given the chance to pass a no-mill increase bond, which is the result of refinancing the 2005 and 2006 bonds. The improvements will include safety and security, technology and energy efficiency. Decisions about what needed to be improved in the school system came from Durand business owners, community members and Board of Education members who formed a committee to work on this project. Thoughtful attention to our aging structures, as well as addressing needs in the school system was a collaborative effort.

The committee and our Sup’t. Craig McCrumb were able to focus on these areas and proceed with a plan that would allow us to make these improvements.

We are very fortunate to have this opportunity to offer our children so much at no additional cost per month on our taxes.

Passing this bond would allow continued excellence for our future Railroaders. Please make sure to vote “Yes” on Nov. 3!
