Elsie American Legion Post 502 and the Dollar General in Elsie have started taking donations to help the people that went through the floods when the Edenville Dam broke and eventually five dams broke. I’ve contacted the commander of the Sanford American Legion Post that is handling donations, and they are requesting that the people are asking for the following items.
They’re asking for cleaning supplies (such as soaps, bleach, dish soap, etc.), drinking water, hygiene items (baby wipes, toothpaste, hand soap, etc.), insect repellent and sun block. You can also donate money and we will take these items up there directly to them and they will get the items out to the people in need.
The Elsie Dollar General is open seven days and has a money donation container and a box if you purchase items. The American Legion will have boxes outside, or come inside on the north side of the building in the meeting room, where we are collecting the items on tables.
As their needs change, we will keep everyone notified as to what their new needs are. Thank you in advance for caring about our fellow Michiganders in need of support. If you have any questions, contact Gene Nethaway at (989) 834-2438.
