Our community has a vital decision to make on Nov. 7. The Owosso Public Schools’ bond proposal will continue the forward momentum that our community has experienced as of late. As a parent of an OPS student and a local business owner, I am voting “yes.”
First and foremost, as a parent of a child with asthma, I have significant concerns about my son attending Owosso Middle School. Owosso Middle School is a majestic structure that has served us well. However, it is time to repurpose that building and move our students into a school that provides better air quality, updated classrooms, and easier access to athletic facilities.
Our downtown district has been reinvigorated in the last year with the addition of several terrific new businesses. As a local business owner, it has been exciting and beneficial, as Owosso is becoming a place of interest. An updated middle and high school would increase that interest and infuse our community with growth.
Now is the time for our community to come together and leave a legacy for generations to come. Please join me in voting “yes” for our children and our community on Nov. 7.
