Independent Editor,

On Friday Sept. 22, 2017, the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association (MMOGTA) hosted its 11th annual Rural Living Education Day program, with 545 4th-grade students participating from Chesaning, Durand, Merrill, Millington, Owosso, and St. Charles schools.

The program was put on at no cost to the schools or students and included a free lunch served to all involved. Each student also received a goodie bag containing pens, pencils, animal stickers, erasers, books on Michigan history, a notebook pad, and many more items. It is through the generous donations of time, money, food, and school supplies made by our MMOGTA members, local businesses, and other individuals that we are able to keep this program free to the schools.

We want to thank the following for their continued support and sponsorship: Argus-Press, American Speedy Print, Aunt Millie’s Bakery, Back Forty, Carts R Us, Coffield Oil Company, Designs by Bean, Family Tavern, Frank’s Supermarket, milk hauler Gordon Veale, Linda Gross and Gordon’s Food Co-Op, and Green Meadow Farms. We would also like to thank Greenstone Farm Credit, Heritage Tire, Rod Lab and Home Specialist Builders, LAFCU, Lloyd Miller & Sons, M-13 Storage, McKenzie Agency, Michigan Milk Producers, and Michigan Pork Producers. Also deserving of our appreciation is The Independent Newsgroup, Owosso Tractor Parts, Pennington Farm Drainage, R. F. Engines, S & K Farm and Yard, Saginaw Castle Museum, Saginaw County Farm Bureau, Sheridan Auctions, and Slingerland. As well as Sloans Septic Tank Service, Sovis Insurance Agency, Spencer Construction, Senator Rick Jones, Steiner Tractor Parts, Tim’s Trophies, Ziola Construction; the FFA students from Chesaning, New Lothrop, and Ovid-Elsie high schools; and our many family, friends, and neighbors who are not members of our organization but volunteer their time to help us with this program. Last, but not least, we want to thank the MMOGTA membership for their hard work and dedication in putting this program on.

This program would not be the success it is without the support we receive from each and every one of you!
