Camel Cup Races Raise Money for Local Emergencies
Shiawassee Community raises funds for disaster services
The Kiwanis Club of Shiawassee-Owosso helps to organize and host the annual Camel Cup Races. This event benefits the American Red Cross of Mid-Michigan Chapter; Shiawassee Service Center. Due to COVID-19, the Spring 2020 Camel Cup Races had to be postponed and eventually cancelled though community sponsors generously donated their sponsorship. The American Red Cross Mid-Michigan Chapter Shiawassee Service Center received $4,415 in donations to continue helping people of Shiawassee County in face of emergency.
“We are very grateful for the financial support this event provides for our disaster response,” said Kelly King, Executive Director, American Red Cross Mid-Michigan Chapter. “As we continue to assist residents affected by home fires, our single largest disaster.”
• Simple Steps to Save Lives – The American Red Cross is calling on everyone to take two simple steps that can save lives: check existing smoke alarms to ensure they are working properly and practice a fire escape plan, making sure that everyone in the family knows how to get out of every room and how to get out of the home in less than two minutes.”
Thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Shiawassee-Owosso and to all the community sponsors whom so generously donated their sponsorship.
