The Durand Railroad Days Royalty Committee has extended the deadline for applications to Friday, Dec. 21 for the 2019 Railroad Days Queen, Attendant, Princess and Prince contests.
Miss Railroad Days 2019 Queen and Attendant candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 20 years of age, must currently attend or have attended Durand High School, or have a Durand mailing address (additional details are available with applications). Randy Wise of Durand is providing scholarships for the 2019 Miss Railroad Days Queen and Attendant, in the amount of $1,000 for the Queen and $500 for her Attendant. The scholarships will be awarded to the ladies at the end of their reign.
The Princess contest is being sponsored by the Durand Lioness organization, and the Prince contest is being sponsored by Randy Wise of Durand. The contests are for girls and boys from seven to 10 years of age who attend Durand Area Schools or have a Durand mailing address.
Each Prince and Princess candidate will secure a sponsor who will provide the $50 entry fee. All contestants will be photographed courtesy of A&R Portraits. A crowning ceremony for the 2019 Queen, Attendant, Princess and Prince will be at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1 in the grand ballroom of Durand Union Station – Michigan Railroad History Museum, 200 Railroad St. in Durand.
