A variety of programs are scheduled in July at the Durand Memorial Branch Library including magic and circus tricks, a movie showing, story hour, and hands-on fun for kids. The programs are free to the public and children enrolled in Build a Better World reading for the summer will earn credit towards badges for attending.
Featured events for the summer include a magic variety show with entertainer Cameron Zvara on Thursday, July 13 at 7 p.m. His show is filled with comedy, stunts, music, and lots of audience participation. Cirque Amongus will appear on Tuesday, July 25 at 7 p.m., with two talented performers displaying circus tricks and dazzling feats of balance and motion. Both shows are family oriented and will be held in the Trumble Park pavilion behind the library.
Beauty and the Beast will be the theme of two programs: the movie starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens will be shown Friday evening, July 7 at 6 p.m., and a story hour with guest Maggie Smith appearing as Belle will be held on Thursday, July 13 at 11 a.m. Costumes are welcome at both programs and refreshments will be served.
Hands-on fun for kids includes Wii Day on Saturday, July 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Messy Monday activities on July 10 and July 24 from 4 to 7 p.m., STEM building night on July 19 from 4 to 7 p.m., summer crafts on July 20 from 4 to 7 p.m., and Lego Day on July 27 from 4 to 7 p.m.
The library will be closed on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4. Children are still invited to sign up for the Build a Better World reading program and will continue through August 5. For more information on the programs, contact the library at (989) 288-3743.
