DURAND freshman Tyler Purdy can be seen tackling Corunna’s Chase Ardelean during action between the two varsity teams on Thursday, Aug. 31 inside Roundhouse Stadium in Durand. Ardelean totaled 53 yards rushing and 39 yards receiving for the Cavaliers, with one touchdown.

Corunna dominated the match-up, outscoring a young Durand team 47-0. The Cavaliers were led by quarterback Zach Sawyer, who completed nine of 12 pass attempts for 163 yards and three touchdowns. He was also the team’s leading rusher, compiling 92 yards and two touchdowns on nine rush attempts. Also scoring for Corunna were receiver Austin Schemenauer (two touchdowns), Noah Sims, and Zack Kuran. Kuran led the balanced Corunna defense with seven tackles.

The win moves the Corunna Cavaliers’ record to 2-0, while Durand fell to 0-2 with the loss.
