The Durand Area Schools band program will host the Durand Rock-a-Thon at the Durand VFW on Saturday, Sept. 8, featuring the music of Fox Driver and Ross Mead. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the concert will be from 7 to 11 p.m. in the Durand VFW’s large social club/banquet room.
All community members and Durand band alumni are encouraged to attend and reminisce. Organizers have rounded up a number of band pictures, yearbooks and trophies from past decades, which will all be on display on Sept. 8. All proceeds from the event will be used to purchase new band equipment.
The cost of admission is $10, and anyone 15 and older is invited to attend. Tickets can be purchased in advance from Durand Band Booster members, and at Stomping Grounds, Riverside Market and Shaw’s Pharmacy & Gifts. Bottled water and snacks will be provided, and there will be a cash bar, a 50/50 drawing and raffle items.
Both bands feature Durand High School alumni. Rachel (Jeter) Cameron from the class of 1996 and Bob Morrow from the class of 1976 are members of Fox Driver, and Dan Isom of the class of 1991 plays with Ross Mead.
