MEMBERS of the Durand Lions and Durand Rotary presented a check for $5,476.86 to the Durand Board of Education and Superintendent Craig McCrumb (far right) during the board’s Monday, Feb. 12 meeting. The funds were raised during the 2017 Durand Backpack golf outing last September, which was held at Dutch Hollow Golf Course in Durand and was organized by the two organizations. The money will be used to fund the Durand Backpack Program through the end of the school year. Rotary member Jeanette Gomos reports that approximately 130 Durand students currently benefit from the program. She also shared the Durand Rotary has applied for a matching $1,000 Rotary International grant that will fund the program into the 2018-2019 school year.
