ON MONDAY, DEC. 19, Durand High School alumni, parents, friends, family, and students gathered at DHS for the Boys Basketball Alumni basketball game. Players and spectators were asked to bring a small cash donation or a canned food/toy donation. Through generous donations, the game was able to raise over $700 for local food banks and Toys For Tots. Participants also donated dozens of food and toy items.
The alumni Railroaders started on fire and won the game against a split Varsity/JV squad. Organizers would like to thank the football coaches, Coach Gray and Coach Hart for officiating the game, to Mr. Dunavant for providing great commentary/announcing for the game, and Coach Schubart for organizing this successful event. Thanks also go out to Shelly and Jason Tolsdorf for working the admission table and to Coach Travis Klooster and his 9th grade DHS boys team for collecting donations during the game. The basketball program is grateful for all the public support.
Those DHS alumni who played in the game included Jarrod Chapman, Lucas “LT” Thompson, Jimmy Dunavant, Lance Powell, Nick Anderson, Matt Kimmer, Jordan Warren, Austin LePage, PJ Folaron, Patrick Robinson, Glen Hitchcock, Matt Wascha, Austin Hall, Jordan Slobodian, Tyler Phillips, Alec Schacht, Brendan Stein, Tyler Burlingame, Josh Emmerling, Brandon Dickinson, and Buddy Holmes.
