Back after a 3-year hiatus, Dancing with the Starz returns to Owosso. The event is a fundraiser hosted by the Owosso Community Players and the Shiawassee Arts Center with the purpose of raising awareness and helping to provide funding to support performing and visual arts programs in our community. The one-performance event will be held at the 500-seat Lebowsky Theatre at 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 30.
Dancing with the Starz is similar to the popular television show. Our eleven “Stars” have accepted the challenge to train with professional dancers and compete in front of a live audience and distinguished panel of judges for the 2016 Dancing with the Starz Judges’ Award and the People’s Choice Award.
General seating tickets are $60, VIP tickets are $100 and $150, that include preferred seating and a pre-show reception with wine and hors d’ouervres available. All attendees will receive a complimentary theatre cup in addition to specialty desserts and refreshments during intermission. This year’s dancers are: Mark Agnew, owner, Agnew Graphics in Owosso; Kimberly Bowen, owner, Welcome Home Assisted Living in Owosso and Elsie; Jeff Deason, President/CEO, Shiawassee Regional Chamber of Commerce; John Hankerd, owner, Hankerd Sportswear in Owosso; Aaron Maike, President, Baker College of Owosso; Brandon Maike, family-owned Main Beverage Co. business in Owosso; Justina Miller, former owner Courtside Cafe in Owosso; Jillian Schlegel, Owosso High School Band Director; Bridgit Spielman, Principal, Central Elementary School in Owosso; David Vaughn, 90-year-old retired industrialist, Owosso; and Casey Voss, co-owner, Smith & Voss Salon in Owosso.
