The deadline for the 2016 Kids in Curwood Country parade is fast approaching. The parade will be on Friday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. The theme of this year’s parade is, “Super Heroes on Parade.” Organizers want participants to show their favorite Super Hero in action.

This year’s parade will again be co-sponsored by VG’s Food Center of Owosso and the Edward Jones office of Dave Minarik. Applications for the parade are now available at the Curwood Festival office, Edward Jones Investments at 2246 E. Main St. or online at www.CurwoodFestival.com.

Participants are asked to email completed applications to KidsinCurwoodParade@gmail.com. The deadline for entries is Friday, May 13. Applications received past this deadline are not guaranteed a space in the parade. A rain date is set for Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. if inclement weather postpones the parade.

We will line-up again this year on Dewey St. and Queen St. The parade will start at the corner of Dewey and Oliver streets and end at the corner of Ball and Williams streets. The parade starts at the corner of Dewey and Oliver, then the route follows Oliver St. to Park St., down Park to Exchange St., over Exchange to Ball St., up Ball St. to Williams St. The First Congregational church has allowed us to use their parking lot as a gathering point for all parade participants after the parade.

Prizes will be awarded for Best Overall Float and runner up, Best Overall Walking Unit and runner up, and Most Creative will be awarded at the end of the parade. For questions or more information, interested persons may call Dave or Tracey Minarik at (989) 725-2809.
